Hello there, I am Sophia
I work as a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in Toronto, Canada.
A few years back I moved here with my family, and what began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
Origin Story
Moving to Canada wasn't part of the long-range plan. Like many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something much larger.
The first few months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than they should have.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines formed. We found places that worked for us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Created Golden Fern Studio
Most information online was either corporate-level relocation guidance or superficial tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Canada.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site MEANS:
- Practical insights from living in Canada
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site DOESN'T:
- A tourist board resource
- Paid-review platform
- A generic travel journal
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Canada goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue recording what we find.
If you have questions about family life in Toronto or anywhere in Canada, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Sophia
